Can I get symptoms of chlamydia if I had sex 2-3 days ago? What are the symptoms before 7 days? Does my period affect symptoms?

Symptoms of chlamydia typically appear 1-3 weeks after having unprotected sex with somebody who is infected. Oftentimes, people may not know that they have chlamydia - or other STIs (sexually transmitted infections) - because they never have symptoms, or the symptoms appear months later. Occasionally, symptoms appear before 1 week, though this is unlikely. If so, the symptoms will be like any other point. Your period will not affect your existing symptoms.

While the most common symptom of chlamydia is no symptoms, common chlamydia symptoms in women include: unusual vaginal discharge and a burning feeling when peeing.

We recommend if you have had unprotected sex, especially if you know your partner was positive for an STI, that you get tested! You order an at-home, free test for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis here: violetproject.org/the-violet-kit
